Scoring System
Learn how points are awarded in the Congressional Fantasy Game
Scoring Rules
In the Congressional Fantasy Game, points are awarded to your legislators based on their real-world legislative activities. Each action is worth a specific number of points, and your team's total points determine your standing in your league.
Action | Points | Description |
---|---|---|
Primary Sponsor of Introduced Bill | 10 | Points awarded when a legislator is the primary sponsor of a bill introduced in Congress. |
Co-Sponsor of Bill | 2 | Points awarded when a legislator co-sponsors a bill. |
Bill Becomes Law | 100 | Points awarded to the primary sponsor when their bill becomes law. |
Committee Reports Bill | 20 | Points awarded when a bill sponsored by the legislator is reported by a committee. |
Bill Passes Chamber | 30 | Points awarded when a bill sponsored by the legislator passes either the House or Senate. |
Scoring Frequency
The scoring system is updated regularly as new legislative actions occur in Congress. Here's how it works:
- New bills are synchronized from the Congress.gov API
- Bill actions (becoming law, committee reports, etc.) are processed
- Points are calculated and applied to your team
- League standings are updated accordingly
League commissioners can trigger scoring updates through the admin panel.
Strategy Tips
To maximize your team's score, consider these strategies:
- Draft legislators who actively sponsor legislation
- Look for committee chairs or influential members who can get bills passed
- Balance your roster between senators and representatives for diverse scoring opportunities
- Track which legislators have bipartisan appeal, as their bills are more likely to pass
- Consider legislative experience when making draft picks
